Instant Pot Cinnamon Apple Sauce

If you have a kid with a sweet tooth who you would like to see eat less candy and more fruit, then this easy Instant Pot cinnamon apple sauce recipe is for you. I work with a few kids who won't eat fruits and vegetables in their standard form, but will eat them when sauced. All you need is an Instant Pot, some honeycrisp apples, ground cinnamon, and water. It couldn't be more simple. And it sure beats eating those pre-packaged cups of apple sauce. Homemade is nearly always better than store bought. If you can't find honeycrisp apples or they are too pricey where you're at, you can use a combo of other apples with them or use a slightly sweet, crispy variety of your choosing. Some other options include opal apples, Granny Smith, or Ambrosia.

Ingredients:

  • 5 honeycrisp apples, peeled and quartered

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ cup water

Directions:

  1. Place the peeled and quartered apples in your Instant Pot with the water and ground cinnamon.

  2. Set the Instant Pot to manual for 7 minutes.

  3. Once done, quickly release the pressure and either mash the apples with a potato masher, immersion blender, or throw them in a high speed blender to make them smooth.

  4. Store the apple sauce in jars for later, and serve with a dash of cinnamon on top.
