I have been working in public education since 2008. To say this was my most challenging year feels like an understatement. I'm blessed to finally be at a school I love teaching at. But all the pandemic craziness and the effect it's had on the public education system has taken a toll on teachers. I work at an online charter school. So when schools closed last spring, ours was unaffected, for the most part. The real challenge arose this school year when many families lost trust in the public education system and their inability to properly educate students during a pandemic. Our school saw a major increase in enrollment. With that came an increase of stress for the teachers. I will leave it at that for now. Just know that I'm fine. Most teachers are fine. And we're doing the best we can.
Because of the stress, and the countless hours I spend staring at a screen for work, I have decided to step away from this site until the end of this school year. I want to focus on my education career for now, and be fully present for my students and colleagues. I'll be back mid-June.
In the meantime, you can follow me on Instagram. I haven't been using social media as much as I used to. But maybe a step back from this site will create room to allow me to focus more on that. Currently, outside of the classroom, I've been focusing on my spiritual practice, spending more time outside, and reading a lot of books - both instructional and fictional. Those are true goals and passions of mine.
Take care. I'll be back soon.
