The Science of Vitamins and the Body

I get asked about supplementation quite a bit. Some people want all the supplements. Some people want none. And others want to know what the best supplements are. Well the truth is, it's different for everyone. That's the beauty of my training with the Nutritional Therapy Association. I learned that supplementation needs are very bioindividual. I was lucky enough to get certified through an in-person workshop (the NTA has since moved the majority of its content to an online only platform). During my in-person workshop weekends, I was taught the process of lingual-neuro testing (LNT).

Lingual-neuro testing is a valuable biofeedback tool that enables me to determine the usefulness of a nutritional supplement. This is the tool I use to help individualize the nutritional therapy approach when I work with in-person clients. And it's always different for each client.

The reason many people need supplements is because their bodies are deficient in certain vitamins, minerals or enzymes. Deficiencies are rampant, especially for those who have grown up eating a standard American diet. It's estimated that nearly 90% of Americans have a deficiency of at least one or more vitamin, mineral or enzyme. Consumption of overly processed foods and depletion of minerals in the soil where crops are grown are the biggest contributors to deficiencies.

Supplements are designed to supplement the diet, though it is almost always my goal for my clients to not need targeted supplements for the rest of their life. We try to correct the deficiency with nutritional therapy. And this includes proper supplementation that's bioindividual for each person. The process is a little different for my virtual clients since I can't perform the LNT process with them.

Take a look at the infographic below. It shows the science of certain vitamins and how they impact the body. If you are in the Treasure Valley (Boise) area and you're interested in the LNT process or you just have a question about the process, feel free to contact me to learn more.
